Introduction of the Active Ingredients
Pyrethroids
Pyrethroids are important synthetic insecticides with high efficiency, broad spectrum, low toxicity and biodegradability. They are bionic synthetic insecticide components and synthetic esters derived from natural pyrethrum esterification structure. Pyrethroids are more stable than natural pyrethrums. Natural pyrethrums are easy to decompose and fail in sunlight. The first sunlight-stable pyrethroid, permethrin, appeared in the 1970s. By 2020, nearly 100 pyrethroid insecticides have been developed worldwide, in which cypermethrin and deltamethrin are the most popular. When they work, they function by touching, absorption and inhalation. Moreover, compared with other types of insecticides, pyrethroids are used in smaller amounts and in lower concentrations. Causing little pollution to the environment, they are safe for humans and animals. Pests with piercing suction mouthparts and chewing mouthparts in agriculture & forestry, horticulture, warehouses, livestock industry, health industry, etc.
Advantages:
- High efficiency. The insecticidal ability is 10-100 times higher than organochlorine and organophosphorus and carbamate insecticides.
- Safe. Pyrethroids have low toxicity and can be safely used in low doses.
- Easy to decompose. Pyrethroids can be easily decomposed, with low residue level and little environmental harm.
- No cumulative effect. Easy to metabolize in animals and no impact on the ecosystem.
- Wide application range.
Imidacloprid
Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide. It is known for its broad spectrum, high efficiency, low toxicity, low residue level and low resistance to pests. Imidacloprid works by disrupting the insect’s nerve system. When it is applied, it will function by contact poisoning, gastric poisoning and inhalation poisoning. When it is absorbed, the normal transmission of the insects’ central nervous system will be blocked, followed by the death soon. Moreover, the activity of imidacloprid increased with the increase of temperature. So, imidacloprid works better in summer when there are more pests than any seasons. Since it was patented in the United States in 1992 and first used against lawn turf grass and ornamentals, imidacloprid has been proved effective in controlling stinging pests common in food crops, cash crops, tea gardens and orchards. The ingredient can also be used to treat seeds of rice, wheat, peanuts, soybeans, cotton, etc. It is also applicable for soil treatment to avoid potential damage to crops from underground pests. Products containing imidacloprid are commonly used in the form of insecticide sprays, powder, gel baits, etc.
Advantages:
- High efficiency and broad spectrum. It has an insecticidal effect which is efficient and broad spectrum. Pests cannot easily develop any resistance.
- Wide application range. Imidacloprid can be made into both liquid insecticides and gel baits.
- Multiple modes of action. It will function by contact, gastric and inhalation poisoning.
- Applicable for both indoor and outdoor use. Imidacloprid works well in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- High temperature helps. Its effect is positively correlated with temperature. The higher the temperature, the better the effect will be.
- It works fast and long. Good effect can be achieved after 1 day of use and can last up to 25 days.
- Low residue level. It is low toxic to human, animals and plants.
Indoxacarb
Indoxacarb is the first commercially used oxadiazine insecticide that has become popular in recent years. Indoxacarb is an organic compound with unique mechanism of action. It can kill insects by blocking sodium channels in their nerve cells and disable them. Indoxacarb is highly effective on farm pests, fruit and vegetable pests and household pests. Indoxacarb can kill the target pests by contact and gastric poisoning. It is effective to pests in all stages. Indoxacarb is low toxicity to mammals and livestock and very safe to non-target organisms such as beneficial insects. Indoxacarb will not develop any cross resistance when used in combination with other insecticide components. Therefore, indoxacarb is largely used for its high insecticidal activity, low residue level and safety to crops and environment. It is an ideal alternative to organophosphorus insecticides with high toxicity, high residue level and high insect resistance. Indoxacarb is the active ingredient applied in many popular household insecticides including cockroach and ant baits.
Advantages:
- Wide application range. Indoxacarb is widely used in food crop pests, fruit and vegetable pests and household hygiene pests.
- Dual modes of actions. It works with its both contact and gastric poisoning effects.
- High activity. The high activity of the ingredients makes it effective against pests at all stages of growth.
- Safe. It is safe for non-target insects.
- Resistance cannot be easily produced. It is not easy for pests to develop cross resistance when used with other insecticide components.
- High combinability. Can be used in combination with other insecticide ingredients to achieve a wider killing range of insecticides.
